New Salvation Army Store

Have you seen the new Salvation Army Store on Ballsford Road, behind Walmart?

We watched it go up and now it's been open for a couple of months and apparently well shopped.
Last week,
we took a box of dishes to donate and I just had to check it out to see what was drawing the crowds.
Don't miss it~ looks like a department store and even has shopping carts. Very organized and very clean.

You can never get out without finding at least one treasure, right?

I found the sweetest little wheel made pottery creamer complete with top in mint condition. At $3, I couldn't resist as would be perfect to heat and serve maple syrup. That was my excuse but for sure, was the last thing I need. I also bought a "conversation piece." I'll have you over to talk about it. Totally useless to me, but I liked it.

Toys, bikes, everything under the sun~ some of the furniture looked new. It was fun to look around ~ my New Years Resolution is to make lots of donations.
Check it out.

Dear iJune:

Thank you for plugging the "Salvation Army Store." My grandmother's first baby doll was given to her by the Salvation Army (100 years ago!!). The Salvation Army does great things with their donations and cash contributions. I hope all of the Virginia Oaks Seniors will consider donating to the nearby store. Also, it never hurts to walk through the store, if not to buy, to stimulate the mind with all of the nostalgia from recognizing items from the bygone years (harvest gold and avocado kitchenware, glass insulators from telephone poles, Kodak/Brownie-- film-- cameras, you get it).

When you donate, remember: Putting items back in circulation breathes new life into them. At our age, for every one item we bring in to our house, we should send two (or more!) out.

P.S. Why aren't you Virginia Oaksters posting comments on iJune's blog. You are so lucky to have this service. Perhaps you are waiting for a snowstorm! LOL If you don't know how to post, iJune to provide a "how to blog" session at your clubhouse!

HAPPY NEW YEAR VA OAKSTERS!
